Here’s a fun October project: a 3D papercraft pumpkin that you can do with your kids!

List of Supplies for your 3D Papercraft Pumpkin

  • Colored craft papers
  • Craft glue
  • Pencil
  • Sharpies
  • A pair of scissors

How to Make Your Papercraft Pumpkin

Step 1

This papercraft pumpkin does not require any template. Select thick craft paper for the pumpkin pattern. We’re using orange paper. Prepare the selected paper into a square (6”x6”).

Step 2

Make diagonal creases along both sides of the square paper. Fold and then unfold the diagonal folds.

Step 3

Turn the paper to the other side and make vertical and horizontal half creases.

Step 4

Keeping the vertical and horizontal creases up, fold in the diagonal creases and form a diamond shape.

Step 5

This should have 2 triangular flaps on each side.

Step 6

Bring all 4 triangular flaps to one side.

Step 7

Use a pencil to draw a petal shape on the top flap. Keep the inner side intact.

Step 8

Cut the folded paper pattern along the traced lines.

Step 9

Unfold the pattern. It should have a total of 8 petals. This is our papercraft pumpkin base.

Step 10

Cut out a small round shape and a small rectangle shape from the same-colored craft paper.

Step 11

Make a cylinder shape with the rectangle paper.

Step 12

Attach the paper cylinder shape in the center of the round cutout.

Step 13

Attach the other open end of the paper cylinder in the center of the pumpkin base cutout.

Step 14

Apply a drop of glue on the tip of any petal and join it to the top of the round cutout, on the opposite side of the cylinder.

Step 15

Now, attach the opposite petal similarly.

Step 16

Now, attach the crisscross petals to the center of the round shape, on the top of the cylinder shape.

Step 17

One by one attach all 8 petals similarly.

Step 18

Cut out 2 thin strips for the vines, a rectangle cutout to make a small cylinder for the stem and a leaf shape.

Step 19

Prepare the vines, stem, and leaf shapes.

Step 20

Attach the paper stem shape on the top center of the papercraft pumpkin pattern.

Step 21

Attach the leaf and vines adjacent to the stem to complete the craft.
