Parts of a Seed Clay Craft

Instructions for Parts of a Seed Clay Craft

Step 1
Print out the template and place the acrylic block on top of it. First, we will make the testa. For this we will take some purple clay and spread it, covering the whole shape. Gently press against a smooth surface if needed. Remove it from the acrylic block.

Step 2
For the cotyledon, take some yellow clay.

Step 3
Spread it out following the second oval shape inside the seed on the template.

Step 4
Press the clay against the surface of the acrylic to smoothen.

Step 5
Take some green clay for the plumule.

Step 6
Roll it to make a rope shape.

Step 7
Place it as shown in the picture and adjust to the template as needed.

Step 8
Using some orange clay, make two rope-shaped parts following the template. This will be the plumule (the outside part) and the epicotyl (the inside part).

Step 9
Make a thin rope shape using black clay for the radicle.

Step 10
Make two more strands and place them as shown in the image.

Step 11
Now it’s time to assemble the parts of a seed. Take the purple oval shape we made previously and place the yellow one on top of it according to the template.

Step 12
Place the hypotcotyl.

Step 13
Place the epicotyl

Step 14
Attach the plumule as shown.

Step 15
Place the radicle right under the hypocotyl and it’s done.
