Papercraft Koi Fish

Instructions for the Papercraft Koi Fish

Step 1
Select medium-thick colored craft papers for the papercraft koi fish Prepare the patterns from the provided template and trace them on the selected craft papers using a pencil. Cut out the traced papers using scissors.

Step 2
Take the fin cutouts and make pleated folds on them, horizontally.

Step 3
Unfold all the pleated folds and they’ll leave creases.

Step 4
Take the base cutout and cut a 1 cm vertical slit on the front side of the base.

Step 5
Apply glue on any one side of the slit.

Step 6
Overlap both sides of the slit by a cm and press on the glued part.

Step 7
Glue the 2 eye cutouts to the front side, on both sides of the overlapped slit.

Step 8
Use a matching permanent marker to draw scale patterns on the base.

Step 9
Attach a fin pattern on any one side of the base.

Step 10
Similarly, attach the other fin to the other side of the base.

Step 11
Take the tail fin cutout and fold it in half.

Step 12
Fold it in half again.

Step 13
Fold it in half 2 more times.

Step 14
Unfold all the folds.

Step 15
Make pleated folds along the crease lines.

Step 16
Apply glue on any one side of the pleated tail fin pattern.

Step 17
Press the middle of the pleated tail fin and join the glued sides together to form the tail fin shape.

Step 18
Use your fingers to spread the tail fin pleats a little. Apply glue on the back part of the base.

Step 19
Attach the closed end of the tail fin onto the glued part of the base to complete the craft.
