Lion Paper Craft
Lions are majestic and impressive mammals to watch (from a safe distance) at a zoo or even on a rare safari trip. This lion paper craft will be a fun project for World Lion Day on August 10.

Throughout history, in many cultures, lions have been symbols of strength, courage, and nobility. Lions are also associated with royalty and authority. In this post, we will walk through the step-by-step process of creating a lion paper craft, with photos included.
So, clear a space and gather your homeschool class, and let’s get started!

Instructions for the Lion Paper Craft

Step 1
Select colored craft paper for the lion paper craft. Print and prepare the provided template patterns. The template includes patterns for the head, inner ear parts, nose, belly, lower body, tail, tail tip, mane strips, and mane base. Use a pencil to trace the template patterns on the selected craft papers and use scissors to cut them out nicely.

Step 2
Glue the mane strips around the base cutout. Glue the big strips on the base and keep a gap between the strips for the small strips.

Step 3
Glue the small strips between the glued ones.

Step 4
Carefully join the outer ends of the strips to their inner, glued ends.

Step 5
Glue all the strips similarly, but make sure that there are no folding lines in the middle of the strips when joining the ends.

Step 6
Glue the inner ear parts to the ear parts of the head cutout.

Step 7
Glue the tail tip to the tail cutout.

Step 8
Glue the tail to one side of the body base cutout.

Step 9
Prepare a small piece of paper (1cm x 4cm) and make accordion folds along the longer side. Attach it to the middle of the mane base.

Step 10
Glue the peacock body pattern on the top part of the accordion-folded paper, covering the tail feather base. Allow the glue to dry.

Step 11
Glue the lower body pattern to the bottom, backside of the head pattern.

Step 12
Glue the nose cutout on the top, middle part of the head.

Step 13
Use a black Sharpie to draw the face of the papercraft lion, and glue the belly cutout to the lower body part to complete the craft.
