How to Make Beaded Pipe Cleaner Corn for Thanksgiving

When I was a kid, my aunt took me to visit a Pilgrim re-enactment village one fall. Despite all the people wearing neat costumes and the various tools and equipment from that time period, the one thing that impressed me most was the colorful corn. It was beautiful! Also called Indian corn, this colorful corn is something that you can make with your kids for Thanksgiving with this beaded pipe cleaner corn craft.

List of Supplies for Beaded Pipe Cleaner Corn:

• Pipe cleaners
• Round beads (1cm)
• A pair of sharp scissors

Instructions for Making the Beaded Pipe Cleaner Corn:

Step 1:

Take four pipe cleaners of the same length and color. You can use different shades if you want to.

Step 2:

Take any 2 pipe cleaners and twist them once or twice right in the middle. Form a cross with the twisted pipe cleaners.

Step 3:

Here’s a closer look at the twisted parts.

Step 4:

Take the 3^rd pipe cleaner and twist it with the first two, around their twisted part.

Step 5:

Now, join the 4^th pipe cleaner.

Step 6:

Once you’ve attached all 4 pipe cleaners, arrange the 8 lines neatly, keeping an even gap between every 2.

Step 7:

Select colorful beads of your choice. Try selecting fall-inspired colors for your beaded pipe cleaner corn.

Step 8:

Start inserting beads into any one line through its open end. Keep an inch or slightly more intact at the open end.

Step 9:

One by one, bead the other lines.

Step 10:

Fill all the pipe cleaner lines with beads and keep the beading length the same for all lines.

Step 11:

Hold the open ends of the beaded lines and join them together on any one side.

Step 12:

Hold all the open ends together firmly and closely.

Twist the open ends of the open ends tightly and adjacent to the last beads. Twist 2 or 3 times to secure the beading.

Step 13:

Adjust the shape of the beaded pipe cleaner corn by pressing the beaded pipe cleaner lines carefully, to make it look like a piece of corn.
