Instructions for Elephant Bookmarks:
Step 1:
Select a piece of cardstock paper for the elephant. You’ll want to use pink (or light pink) for the inner ear parts. Trace the template pattern on the color of cardstock paper you’ve selected and then cut them out using scissors. You can simply print and cut out the eye templates.
Step 2:
Attach the head cutout (the round shape) on the top side of the body cut-out with glue. You’ll want to overlap one cut-out on the other by about a centimeter, as shown in the image below.
Step 3:
Take the big ear cut-outs and glue the pink ear cut-outs (which are the inner parts of the ears) onto the big ones.
Step 4:
Attach the ears on either side of the head pattern by gluing them to the underside of the head cut-out.
Step 5:
Next, you’re going to want to attach the tail to the body cut-out of the elephant, again, by gluing it to the underside. Then glue the trunk pattern near the bottom of the head, at the middle, letting the trunk cut-out swing downward.
Step 6:
Attach the front leg cut-outs on both sides of the front of the main body pattern. Only glue the top of the leg cut-outs, keeping a gap of about 2 centimeters along the bottom side of the body pattern.
Step 7:
Next, glue the eyes on the head, bringing your elephant bookmarks to life. Then use a pen to trace a smile near the trunk of the elephant. You can also use coloring pencils to trace shades along the trunk of the elephant, adding some depth to the image.
Now your cute and easy elephant bookmarks are done! And as you can see, the front legs of the elephant serve as slots to stick the bookmarks over the page of a book in order to keep your place in a story.
