Plant photosynthesis is an amazing topic to delve into with your kids! It’s like magic happening right in front of our eyes, but it’s all science! Photosynthesis is how plants make their own food using sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water, and it’s a fundamental process that keeps our planet green and thriving.

Plant Photosynthesis Craft

Before starting the craft, you can set the scene by explaining photosynthesis in simple terms to your kids. You can say something like, “Plants are like little chefs. They use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide from the air to make their own food!” This craft can be part of a larger unit study on botany.

Here are the step-by-step instructions on how to put together this craft.

To make your plant photosynthesis craft, first you’ll need to print out the templates.

Use colorful craft paper to cut out the flower, stem, sun, water, and clouds.

Glue the yellow circular piece inside the orange wavey pattern to make the sun.

Glue the yellow pedicel inside the flower.

Glue the two leaves with the stem.

Glue the flower on the top of the stem.

Cut out the backgrounds according to the size of your paper plate.

Cut out a brown half-circular-shaped draft paper for the soil.

And a round blue craft paper for the sky.

First, glue the blue circular background on the paper plate.

Then, place the brown craft paper (soil) on the bottom and glue it there.

Place the sun on the top corner of the blue craft paper. Explain how sunlight is essential for plants to perform photosynthesis.

Glue the clouds on the other end of the sky.

Glue the water drops over the corner of the brown area.

Finally, glue the flower on the center over the soil to finish making your photosynthesis craft. You can also let your kids get creative with decorating their scene. They can add glitter for dewdrops, draw flowers, or even make little insects buzzing around!
