Simple Valentine’s Day Frame Craft

Sharing is caring!

Photos always make a wonderful, personalized gift for any special occasion. And Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion to share photos of favorite moments with friends and loved ones! But giving photos without a frame can seem a little incomplete, right? This Valentine’s Day Frame Craft will show you how to make a simple (but very cute) Valentine’s Day themed picture frame that you can use to display photos and/or to gift to people you love. This craft only has a few materials and steps, making it very kid-friendly. It’s a great Valentine’s Day craft for adults and children alike, and makes a nice decorative item or a sweet, small gift to share with friends of all ages.

What You’ll Need:

How to Make It:

To start off, grab your paint, paintbrush, and 4 popsicle sticks. Completely paint the popsicle sticks on both sides. You can use a paper plate to prop the sticks up and let each painted side dry. If pink is not your thing, red would also be a good choice for this Valentine’s Day frame!

While the popsicle sticks are drying, plug in your hot glue gun and get it warming up.

Once everything is dry and your glue is ready, apply a large drop of glue onto each end of a popsicle stick. Then repeat this step with a second popsicle still and lay them parallel to one another.

Then place 2 of the other popsicle sticks on top of (perpendicular to) the 2 popsicle sticks with the glue, which will form a frame shape.

Once it dries, you will have a frame that looks like this:

Next, take your pretty Valentine’s day paper.  In addition to being adorable, this element provides your DIY frame with the effect of being matted. A sturdy piece of scrapbooking paper works really  well for this, since you don’t want the backing to be flimsy . Or, you could even use a Valentine’s Day gift bag (dollar stores usually carries plenty of choices this time of year)

Place your paper of choice behind the popsicle frame, and use a pen or pencil to outline around the outside of the frame.

Then cut out the square you just traced, and glue it to the back of the frame (pretty side up, of course).

Now it’s time to add some jewels! There are so many pretty ones on Amazon. This pack comes with 500+ pretty stick on gems (which is a pretty exciting addition to any craft cabinet, especially  when you have small kids.)

Once your frame is thoroughly bedazzled, flip it over gently and use the hot glue gun to attach a loop of twine. This step is optional, but it allows you to hang the picture frame. Alternatively, you may want to get a few stick-on magnets, which will allow you to stick this cute, Valentine’s Day frame on the refrigerator!

There you have it! This one is a sweet and simple Valentine’s Day craft with a thoughtful purpose. Now all that is missing is your photograph of choice (which you can add with just a dot of hot glue!)
