As summer approaches and the Fourth of July draws near, families across the United States eagerly anticipate the joyous celebrations that accompany this historic holiday. Amidst the cookouts, parades, and dazzling fireworks displays, it’s always fun to engage in a creative project that adds a personal touch to the festivities. This year, why not gather your kids together to do this Fourth of July craft that captures the spirit of Independence Day?
In this blog post, you’ll find step-by-step instructions for a unique 3D-style Fourth of July craft that will bring color, excitement, and a touch of magic to your holiday celebrations!
List of Supplies for Fourth of July Craft:
- Colored craft paper (this red, white, and blue craft paper is perfect for any Fourth of July craft!)
- Craft glue
- Craft foam sheet
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Fourth of July craft template
Instructions for Fourth of July Craft:
Step 1:
Select four different colored craft papers for the four layers of your 3D Fourth of July craft. I’m using grey-colored paper for the background and three different shades of blue for the three layers. Trace the layer layouts on the selected papers and cut out the middle part of the traced patterns, as you can see in the image below.
Step 2:
Arrange the layer cutouts to check the 3d scene pattern and make sure that it looks good.
Step 3:
Take the background paper and attach four thin foam sheet strips on four sides of the paper. This will be the base of the Fourth of July craft.
Step 4:
Apply glue along the top surface of the foam sheet strips attached to the background paper. Place the bottom layer on the top of the glued strips. This will raise up the bottom layer and form a 3D-style look.
Step 5:
One by one, add a foam strip frame and then the next layer to complete the 3D scene base of the Fourth of July craft.
Step 6:
Now select colored craft paper for the other patterns (building, window, and fireworks). You can choose any colors you like, but red, white, and blue would be a fitting choice.
Step 7:
Glue the firework patterns on the scene to complete the firework Fourth of July craft.
Step 8:
Stick the small squares (windows) on the rectangle papers (building) to complete the landscape of the craft.
Step 9:
Check if you have enough items for the 3D scene by fitting it all together and seeing how it looks.
Step 10:
Lastly, you’ll want to attach the paper buildings and fireworks in between the layers. Keep the buildings along the bottom side and the fireworks along the top side of the 3D Fourth of July craft.
Whether you’re hosting a backyard barbecue, attending a community gathering, or simply enjoying a cozy family day, this fun July 4th craft project will illuminate your kids’ holiday with a sparkle that is truly unique.
