A Letter To My Daughter On Her Second Birthday
I am so glad you are my little girl. I have wanted you more than you will ever know, and you are so much greater than I could have ever imagined you to be.
You’re loved when you scream. You’re loved when you cry. You’re loved, even when you don’t think you love me. No matter what you do, or what you throw at me, you’re still loved. Get used to it.
People may not always see it. They may treat you like you are small. Don’t let that get you down. Know your worth. If you forget, come ask me.
It may not be easy, but I am teaching you to work hard. Don’t give up on what you want.
You may have ugly moments. It doesn’t make you ugly. Dust off the dirt, instead of wallowing in it.
You may not always succeed, but that’s okay. You won’t know if you don’t try.
When someone tries to share their wisdom with you, don’t let pride get in the way. Listen to them.
If you can’t see it, let me remind you of how you look through my eyes.
You will screw up, and get in trouble sometimes. There may be consequences for your actions, but they are there to help you. When it’s all said and done, I’ll be waiting with a hug. I screwed up a couple times too. It’s okay.
In a blink of an eye, you’re be old enough to roll your eyes at this letter. In another blink of an eye, you’ll be writing a letter to your own daughter.
I love you forever and always XOXO, Mama
