Free Homeschool Curriculum { Free Engineering Curriculum for Elementary Students }
Long time readers know I love free homeschool curriculum. I maintain a list of free resources and websites called The Free List on this blog of things I come across as I look for resources to use with my own kids. Every once in a while I come across something SO awesome that it needs it’s own post instead of just being quietly added to the free list.
Engineering is Elementary is one of those sites I needed to share. They have a very neat FREE Engineering Adventures series that introduces kids to the engineering design process by having them look at real world problems and come up with solutions for them.
These units come with both a downloadable PDF teachers guide, and a student workbook. All the units I have looked at use materials I already have around the house so they are very easy to use. Simply download, print, and go!
With so few engineering programs available these days, this is an awesome find. I can’t promise these will always be free, so check them out and download the free engineering units as soon as possible! As of today, they have 6 free engineering units covering:
- Recycled Racers
- How to safely remove an invasive species
- Engineering Earthquake Safe Buildings
- Engineering Aid Drop Packages
- Engineering Bubble Wands
- Engineering Rockets and Rovers
These look like TONS of fun, and I can’t wait to dig in with my kids!

Doesn’t seem to be available any longer 🙁
It’s still there! I poked around a little, and they just changed the link. I fixed mine here, and you can see the units (there are 7 now!) here: http://www.eie.org/engineering-adventures/curriculum-units
