Children’s Books about the Ocean
Our ocean unit study has been SO much fun. We always go through a ton of books along with the activities we do each month, and this month was no exception! We checked out many of these books from the library, and picked up a few from Amazon. Check them out, maybe you’ll find a new family favorite from this list!
3-D Theater Ocean: Play Look and Find in Amazing 3-D Pop-Ups
Whales: Gentle Giants (Step Into Reading)
Magic Tree House Fact Checker: Dolphins and Sharks
National Geographic Kids: First Big Book of the Ocean
National Geographic Kids: Oceans
Ocean: An Extraordinary Environment Revealed
Seymour Simon’s Extreme Oceans
Spending time reading with your children is one of life’s sweet pleasures. Books about the ocean, especially non-fiction ones, are such great choices because almost every kid is fascinated by the sea and the creatures found within it, especially if they’ve seen Finding Nemo or A Winter’s Tale. When I read to my children, I use the correct name for each animal or plant (“puffer fish” instead of just “fish,” or “nurse shark” instead of just “shark,” etc.). While they may not be able to repeat it back to me with perfect pronunciation, they are hearing you, and will remember as they get older.
Did your favorite ocean book make the list? See any you want to add to your collection? One of the great things about Amazon now is that almost all of their books have a Kindle option which can save you money and allows you to have instant access to the beautiful photos found within the pages of this collection!
Happy Reading!
