Winter Olympics Torch Relay Unit Study

Sharing is caring!

I am SO excited to start a little unit study on the Olympics with my kiddos. The winter games are my favorite because I could cheer for hockey all day long… and who doesn’t love the figure skating?

We know a lot about the first Olympics after our study of Ancient Greece a couple years ago, but I really didn’t know much about the Torch Relay. I put together this Winter Olympics Torch Relay unit study to teach the kids more about the traditions and history that make the Olympic games so fun.

This study is written for 3rd-6th grade, although with a parents help, there is no reason it couldn’t be used by other children.

This pack includes everything from the history of the Olympic flame, the Pyeongchang Torch, Math word problems, mapping exercises, character writing and a creative assignment to design your own Olympic torch.

If you have younger kids, check out our FREE Olympics Read and Write Word Wall, and Olympic Sports Matching Game.

The Sochi version of this unit study was free for our followers for a limited time and has now expired. Grab this unit study in our shop, and subscribe by email so you never miss another subscriber freebie!

  2. This looks like a wonderful unit. Thanks for sharing it with us. My favorite is the figure skating. The Olympic flame is a symbol of the Olympics and I think it’s great that you touched on it in a unit study.
